Call for Papers: ESSHC 2018

The twelfth European Social Science History Conference will take place at the Queen’s University, Belfast, 4th- 7th April 2018. The Urban Network Chair would welcome proposals for papers or complete sessions (three or four speakers with chair/discussant) on any aspect of urban history.

We hope to see a wide period range and a wide geographical range represented in the urban sessions at Belfast, and we will be particularly interested in receiving or compiling sessions which are comparative across time or space: we hope to continue the policy adopted in recent ESSHC meetings of holding joint sessions with other networks in order better to identify and understand the ‘urban dimension’ inherent in past social practice. We would also welcome paper or session proposals dealing with urban historiography and the practice of urban history, in the hope of stimulating discussion of recent methodological innovations in the field.

For further details of the conference, guidance on the appropriate format for paper and session proposals and for pre-registration, please visit Deadline for submission of proposals is 1 May 2017.
